Prepares 9” 2-crust pastry
Measure flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly. Add water gradually while mixing constantly until dough cleans sides of bowl. Divide dough in two. On floured surface, roll out half the dough and transfer into pie pan. Reserve remaining dough for the top crust.
# Granny Smith and 2 Gals Apples peeled, cored and sliced and a dollop of sour cream. 2 T butter, thin slices of mild cheddar cheese (About 4-6-oz).
Stir together first 5 filling ingredients in large bowl. Add apples and sour cream. Mix thoroughly. Pour into pastry-lined pie pan. Dot with 2 T butter and add a layer of cheese and top with remaining pie crust. Seal. Flute edge and vent. Make 425 for 50 min.
